The All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is a group of autonomous government public medical universities of higher education under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare , Government of India. These institutes have been declared by an Act of Parliament as Institutes of National Importance. AIIMS New Delhi, the forerunner institute, was established in 1956. Since then, 24 more institutes were announced. As of January 2023, twenty institutes are operating and four more are expected to become operational until 2025. Proposals were made for six more AIIMS. It is considered as pioneer health institution of South Asia.
When-Admission to the AIIMS, MBBS programme in 2023 will be made through the NEET 2023 test. NEET has been introduced to replace the AIIMS exam (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test). Results from the NEET-UG are used to determine admission to MBBS and BDS programmes. The National Testing Agency administers this entrance test on a national basis each year. Candidates would be able to enrol in nine AIIMS institutions through this exam, including Bhopal, Raipur, Rishikesh, Jodhpur, etc.

The cutoff score is the lowest possible score a candidate must secure to qualify for the entrance examination. The cutoff is based on multiple aspects like the number of candidates, seats, marking scheme and difficulty level. According to the information brochure of AIIMS, a candidate who belongs to the general category would have to secure a minimum of 50%and a candidate belonging to the SC/ST Category would have to obtain a minimum of 40%.
